Say Hello to Raunaq Singh!
Raunaq is the dynamic CEO and Director of Targus Technologies - one of the premier IT companies in the country. Targus Technologies offers a gamut of services like Software Solutions, Strategic IT consulting, Network Integrations, Systems Integrations and so on. He took over at the helm at Targus Technologies in 2005 and has since taken it to unprecedented vistas of success. Amassing the loyalty of his employees and the goodwill of his clients through his amicable personality and persistent ‘go-getter’ attitude.
His active participation in “My Whole Child Trust”- a unique centre for children with special abilities is a shining example of his philanthropic inclinations. Completing Raunaq’s world are his wife Vanitha and daughter Arieana and Nooria; who inspire him to lead his team and now EO Gurgaon with the vision of enhancing integration and building upon the power of manifestation in every realm of life.
Our president has been a member of EO Gurgaon since 2017. Apart from chairing the Marcom division in various capacities he has previously served as Learning Chair (2019- 2020) as well.
Here’s a tête-à-tête with our zestful President, Raunaq Singh…
1. If you could describe yourself using only one word, what would it be?
“Gregarious”
2. Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know through your Facebook and LinkedIn profiles?
“I am an army brat whose personality has been moulded within the environment of a boarding school. A little known fact about me, is that I am a hopeless romantic with a passion for Shayari.”
3. Can you please describe to us your business and your role in it?
“Targus is amongst the oldest IT System Integrators in India with play in compute platforms, servers/storage, virtualisation, networking, security, mobility, software and cloud deployments across India, Nepal & Bangladesh.
As CEO of Targus, my role is to constantly grow the company in terms of revenue and profitability by increasing our technology scope, regional presence and product portfolio.
As a leader to my teammates, my goal is to create a work culture that nurtures talented individuals and appreciates their efforts so that they too are satisfied in their workplace ethos.”
4. What drives you to reach your goals/explore uncharted territories/take risks in life?
“The only thing that you cannot change is change itself. And my life has been full of varied experiences and adventures- from moving across continents to chasing after and achieving ambitious goals.
My dad has been a huge influence and support in my life…. Mentoring me through all of life’s challenges and of course being my first role model. I believe if there is nothing to lose then there is nothing to gain.
Live hard, party hard.”
5. What has been your biggest professional achievement to date?
“I feel that I have played an important role in growing my family business from 40 Cr to 500 Cr in the current year. Also I expanded the business to cover the international markets of Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Singapore. I am proud of these achievements but I ardently believe that the best is yet to come.”
6. Any inflection points in the growth trajectory of your business? What would you attribute them to?
“Change your mind, Change your life!!
The inflection point in the growth of our business was when we started thinking big. I attribute this to EO because my learnings at EO made me realise the importance of Big Hairy Audacious Goals - BHAG! This catapulted us to newer and bigger levels.”
7. How has EO contributed to your business and professional journey?
EO has helped me double my profits with help from ‘business and process workshops’; ‘negotiation sessions’ and of course the ‘BHAG mentality’! I am thankful to my cousin - Deepinder Bedi who forced me to join EO!
8. Who in the business world inspires you and why ?
“The story of Dhirubhai Ambani depicted in the movie Guru inspires me a lot! I understand now that one doesn’t need money to become successful. In fact, the biggest businesses in the world have been built without the backing of family wealth. It is this very fact that reminds me that the restrictions lie only in our own minds. So let’s break all the mental barriers and move towards the biggest goals possible. We have only one life!”
9. What has been your greatest learning from EO up until now?
“EO has first and foremost, made me appreciate the power of a structured network that helps me push my own boundaries, whether personal or business; and optimize my true potential.
It has also inculcated in me the strength of manifestation and taught me the importance of ‘positive thinking’; a virtue that can turn one’s life around!”
10. What is the one thing you want to STOP, START and CONTINUE this year?
“STOP: Personally, I’d like to stop worrying about a little criticism, and focus on the positive impact I can bring overall.
START: Focusing on Family. We are here to build a legacy and it is imperative for our families to be a part of our process, in order to achieve wholesome success in life.
CONTINUE: Taking integration to the next level, by encouraging togetherness and bonding, across the chapter.”
11. What do you look most forward to during your presidential run?
“Hard to pick one, but since I have to, I’ll go with the ‘sustained integration’ I can bring to EO that is aligned with our theme “Together Towards Tomorrow”. This is a vision I hold close to my heart and hope to achieve holistically with you all this year.
….And of course then there’s the annual retreat!”
12. How would you like to be remembered in the legacy of EO Gurgaon?
“As the Don who brought togetherness, integrated families and helped EO Gurgaon become a SOLID mega chapter.”
Raunaq is a bona-fide people’s person whose high-spirited personality is altogether too infectious!
