Learning At The Top

“Learn continually. There’s always ‘one more thing’ to learn.”

- Steve Jobs

To excel in this ever-evolving, ever-changing world, we need to learn constantly. Enabling ourselves to learn new things helps us to efficiently adapt to changes and equips us with the right skill sets to innovate and invent solutions for the myriad of problems that we as a community face.

At EO, "Thirst for Learning" is a core value built upon the critical understanding that learning is essential to growth. However, we also realize that learning isn't easy. Here, we aren't talking about the subject matter being hard, but the very act of learning itself that is not easy to fall right into. Therefore, at EO, we begin with learning to learn.

Where Learning Begins:

Through our uniquely created 'Forums’, we are inspired by our peers and learn from peer members’ achievements and even mistakes. Our Forums also allow us to constantly rework our "end goals", taking them a notch higher every time we hit the target. Forums also help us chart the course to our goals by understanding the possible pitfalls and finding solutions to them.

Building Upon Strengths:

EO is a community of excelling young entrepreneurs. To teach such brilliant minds is a challenge in itself which we address by inviting the Gurus of the business realm to impart knowledge, share insights, and meaningful experiences . For EO Gurgaon, 'learning' is at the fulcrum. Learning events are organized regularly by our chapter in an endeavor to help our esteemed our members become the most formidable business leaders of today.

Here are glimpses of a few of the super successful 'Learning Events' organized by EO Gurgaon in 2021:

1. An Illuminating Conversation with Nikhil Kamath

The event saw the dynamic founder of India's only bootstrapped unicorn Zerodha, Nikhil Kamath, along with Richard Pattle, take centre stage. Together they spoke about how one can reduce expenditure on marketing by making products solid enough for consumers to promote themselves, thereby doing their marketing for free! Nikhil further demonstrated how life works in various cycles and that it's easier for one to endure the hard times if one only believes that an upcycle is around the corner. He also shared with us the various aspects of working with one’s family- which is at times hard, but most of the time, ‘super fun’!

2. Learning Event with Shiv Shivakumar

The magnetic thought leader and author, Shiv, spoke about family businesses in India. He highlighted that family-run businesses contribute to 70% of the country's GDP, but to successfully and sustainably run them, factors such as succession planning need to be considered. He advised upon the need to invest in individuals across the organizational hierarchy - who are loyal to the company and not merely to a single individual. Further, Shiva spoke about the benefits of promoting and rewarding meritocracy in an organization. We were mesmerized by Shiv's simple yet thought-provoking logic and reasoning.

3. A Spiritually Satiating Session with Devdutt Pattanaik

The acclaimed author spoke of the lessons embedded in Hindu mythologies like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, both of which were stories based on 'property dispute', teachings of which are extremely relevant in today's world. In this highly engaging and interactive session, Mr. Pattanaik further captivated our attention, by helping us understand, how an organization’s leader is likely to succeed if he thinks of his team as his followers.

These were glimpses into just three of the many Learning Events at EO Gurgaon this year.

Our chapter’s Learning Team has and continues to work enthusiastically towards planning many such stimulating sessions regularly for the benefit of our members. These events help us grow our various businesses and become emulation worthy leaders.
